Defying Gravity or How and Why to Go Upside Down - Summer Workshop 1
With Stacey Brass, Co-Owner YOGAMAYA yoga studio NYC Sunday July 11th 2-4:30pm
For many practitioners of Yoga, conquering the inverted poses marks a sort of rite of passage. These are often the poses that bring up the most fear and ask us to face what we are the most uncomfortable with - having our worlds turned upside down. We leave our comfort zone of practicality and having our feet firmly planted on the ground, and humbly turn our heads towards to the earth and send our feet into the heavens where we root ourselves in Heaven, the source of spiritual nourishment.
But Inversions have a profound physiological benefit to us as humans as well. Good for circulation, balancing hormones, removing impurities, and promoting strength and flexibility, these poses are considered to be essential to every Yoga Practice and should be practiced by all!
Join senior teacher Stacey Brass for an afternoon exploration of headstand, handstand and shoulderstand. Preparing for these poses with a focused Vinyasa practice, we will de-mystify the poses by learning HOW to approach them with proper alignment and a sense of humor! A regular Yoga practice is recommended for this workshop. Advanced Beginners and up!

Alignment Fundamentals with Gerry Giordano, RYT Saturday May 22 2pm-4pm
Many of us come to the yoga practice with our bodies habitually out of alignment. Maybe we've got bad posture, a pelvic tilt, frozen shoulders, or tight legs and hips. These problems are caused by patterns of tension and tightness in our muscles which affect the way our bones rest and align in our bodies.
Join
Gerry Giordano for this workshop focusing on how to properly align the body in 12 basic asanas, as taught by B.K.S. Iyengar, and learn how to maximize the benefits of your practice and remove limiting patterns from the body. Uncover a new layer of confidence and strength that come from proper alignment.

Speak your Truth Featuring the Keynote Coach Saskia Shakin
author of More Than Words Can Say: The Making of Inspired Speakers Sat Mar 13th 2pm-4pm
When we speak in public, we bring to the podium not just our speeches but ourselves. We speak what we live, and we live what we speak. Before we work on a speech, we must work on our values. Before we engage an audience, we must engage ourselves. We must discover our Truth; for it is our Truth that allows us to speak with authenticity and inspiration. Join the Keynote Coach, Saskia Shakin, as she reads some excerpts from her book More Than Words Can Say: The Making of Inspired Speakers and shares her wisdom of how we all can find our authentic voice. Whether you are speaking in front of a large group or a small gathering, this workshop will help you uncover the inspiration within and assist you in delivering your message to others with confidence and ease.
